 ~ My poor babies need clickies...or they'll die. *cries* I just got back from New York today. I had a very relaxing visit with justsonya. I did...absolutely nothing but read. Well, I crocheted some, too. But, mainly, I read...The Twilight Saga. I'll be posting up a review of the rest of the series, including Midnight Sun, later. Omg. HOUSE! petapepy, I got your package. And I'm being good and waiting. *sits on hands*whisper132, I got the postcard. COWS ♥evaporate!!!! OMG KUBOTOKINESS~~~justsonya!!! ♥ Salty Dog III and IV and Backgammon Remix and other stuffs are awesome and pretty and awesome. My notes: OMG I WANT MORE! A manga sequel, another anime sequel, anything! Just MORE! I can't part with this universe. I've watched the anime twice and think I'm going to do it again, and then maybe read the manga another time. Gosh, it happens every time! Hear me solemnly forswear to form even a hint of opinion of a new thing offered to me to read and promise to treat everything as potentially exciting until proven otherwise. Because it happened again. You see, I have zero interest in sport stories or sport manga. How much do I care for board games or abstract strategy games? Not a bit, unless they are very pretty. I downloaded vol. 1 of Hikaru No Go just to see what it's like and to have my conscience clear when the friend who recced it to me would ask how I liked it. But after reading vol. 1, I rushed to DL the rest. I gobbled up the manga in three days, sleeping four hours a night just to be able to function somehow. I watched the anime after it, also in three days. I was so sleep-deprived that I kept falling asleep where I shouldn't have. But I simply couldn't stop reading/watching! It's a real page-turner and a story that will make you love its main characters. My mind and my heart were in conflict about this manga all the way while I was reading. The heart clearly won, despite all the mind's protests and arguments. Won by a large margin even. The argument went like this. My mind tells me: Go is booooring; you don't like it. My heart meanwhile flutters and following it, I'm fidgeting in my chair: will he win? will he lose? OMG please let him win! My mind grumbles: down with the indoctrination! Who cares if Japanese players are stronger or weaker than the Koreans? But my heart says: OMG Hikaru is LOVE! Look at his face when he's in the battle mode! My mind tells me: people who are completely devoted to only one thing are the most boring and uninteresting thing in the world; you've known some like that and you didn't like them in the slightest. My heart keeps squealing: ♥ to Akira, ♥ to Sai, ♥ even to Ogata and Touya Meijin :) I'd think it's a testament to Hotta Yumi's writing skill that despite the nagging thought that the thing this manga is about is the least exciting and utterly unimportant thing in the world for me, I loved it to bits and pieces, read and watched it twice and still want more. Try it! I promise you won't regret! Do you believe me yet? Want to know ( more? ) To wrap it up, I'm seriously considering watching the anime/reading the manga another time. Like, right now. Because it's LOVE! So much love! And I'm absolutely not ready to say good-bye to this universe and these characters. Gosh, half a kingdom for a sequel! No? Well, off to read HikaGo fanfiction I go then :) ( And dragons ) | ||||||||

| I got fic today! TWICE! *has luckiness OMG* I'm about to point at them both, but it's going to sound like I loved one more than the other, but it's just more, it's got the unusualness factor and all, and I want to overcome all y'all's likely resistance to the pairing, okay? Because I did like them both bunches and I am not wanting to make one author feel less loved. Okay, so. At Snapely Holidays, I got fic which says Snape/? and there is whiteout that says the pairing. I wouldn't want to subvert the author's intent there, but I promise it's not a scary ? The header says Title: Where the Heart Is Pairing: Severus/do I have to say? Rating: NC17 - eventually Warnings: Live Severus, but otherwise fairly canon-compliant Summary: Flora's prompt that I chose was, "Snape fleeing without any friends after surviving and starting his new life; maybe eventually someone find him, or maybe he really seriously starts from scratch." This is a bit of both. Severus makes himself a home and a new life in a place he knew long before Hogwarts. Eventually someone from the wizarding world joins him in both. I was possibly a little dubious about the amount of backstory, because there is a fair amount to open the fic, but it was okay, because how can you not like a Snape who learns to be content, and to be content with someone? So, yay to that one. Also, Severus talks to a cat, and has a great-aunt, and works with his hands and has a good life. And then, tonight, there was this: Title: The Fisher King Rating: NC-17 Pairing(s): Percy Weasley/Alastor Moody Disclaimer: All Harry Potter characters herein are the property of J.K. Summary: In which quests and grails are overrated, and virtue is not. Warnings: n/a Okay, yes, I did in fact ask for this pairing, and this fic knocks it out of the park. Do not fret about the Moody. I asked for, IIRC, Moody to be taken seriously, warts and all, and to be a figure that is loved, and dudes, they made me cry. And yes, I am often a giant sap, so in some regards that's not hard to do, but still. There is personal history all woven in, and there is a Moody who is coherent and complex and interesting and a Percy who needs him. And there is a cameo I adored, and there is family and it's complicated and you all know how I am about the complicated, yes? And just, *flails* Go read. Seriously. Go read both, but the other one you won't have to get over the Moody, and just, yes, go. | ||||||

| My snarry_games pieces Transferis and The Weight of Secrets are both up on my site. I imagine most of the HP folks have already seen them, so I didn't bother reposting here.blue_soaring wrote a fic follow-up to my Transferis art though, which is just so richly atmospheric it blows me away. I wish she'd write more HP, since one of my very favourite fics of hers is a Snape/Black piece she'd written for merry smutmas a few years ago. Anyhow, go read (my image is included in the post for the uninitiated!) Transferis, Snape/Harry, ~3300 words. Post-novels. I'm regularly working Sat-Mon, which at first left me wondering what to do with my time, but now school is really picking up nearing the end of the semester, so the next four days are going to be pretty packed for me. I have a lot of work to do for my two final projects. I'm happy with my progress on them though, and I have some fun side projects to work on to keep me sane. I'm really happy I've managed so much art lately, since it just plain feels good to be drawing regularly again. As I flailed in my last pic post, I ordered my Cintiq, so that should get to me within the next week. So. Excited. | ||||||||

Since that's not a very reliable reality, I didn't actually think he ever would...but he did. So, I'm going... Won't be on much tonight.
